Understanding advanced care planning for people living with dementia

Programme summary

This one day course is an interactive training day which will increase knowledge and understanding of Advanced Care Planning (ACP). 

Participation in this course will:

  • Increase understanding of dementia; its prevalence and implications for care
  • Help identify the benefits and barries to advance care planning
  • Promote the use of Adults with Incapacity Act more effectively and increase awareness of how it imacts decisions in ACP
  • Develop greater understanding of the purpose of an advance directive and power of attorney
  • Build recognition of the purpose and scope of a DNACPR
